Coastal Sunset Session at Compo Beach in Westport, Connecticut
Some places just hold a special kind of magic. For Tara and Johnny, Compo Beach in Westport, Connecticut is exactly that. They’ve taken photos here every year, creating a quiet tradition. So when they asked me to document another chapter of their story, it only made sense to meet them on the sand at sunset. Compo Beach isn’t just scenic—it’s theirs.
We kept the session relaxed and honest by walking the shoreline. It made for such beautiful, candid moments, even though it was chilly and they were bundled up. You could feel how comfortable they are here. There’s a quiet kind of beauty that happens when a place holds your memories.
The golden hour light hit just right, soft and warm, reflecting off the water as they moved together with ease. I loved that they were willing to push through the chilly day and that we still captured such beautiful images. I also adored that they brought two different witner looks for the beach - and although it might feel silly to just change jackets, it really does create a different vibe in their portraits! Tara and Johnny even brought matching hats for their portraits too. These little changes can add up and create a final gallery that’s full of purpose and joy.
Tara and Johnny, thank you for sharing your special space with me. I loved Compo Beach and adored working with you both!!
