Sentimental Family Portraits at Topsmead State Forest
Being a Westchester family photographer is a wonderful job. It’s always such an honor to capture growing families. That’s even more true when I’ve been photographing them for years. Stephanie and Scott are one of those couples I’ve been lucky to work with across multiple chapters of their story, and this session at Topsmead State Forest felt like a beautiful continuation of everything we’ve built together. You might recognize them from their studio maternity session! on the blog. Now, you get to meet their daughter!
We captured their engagement session at Topsmead State Forest a few years ago, so returning now with their new baby Sophia was special. This location holds a deep emotional meaning for their family. We spent the afternoon together as we captured the magic of their first family portraits with Sophia. She wore a tiny white dress and bonnet, tucked sweetly into a Moses basket, while her parents lovingly doted on her. One of my favorite parts was the simple picnic setup they brought with them. It was the perfect way to just enjoy the afternoon, with timeless props so the session felt more like a day trip they just happened to invite me along on!
Photographing a couple’s evolution, from engagement to parenthood—is something I never take for granted. These images aren’t just photos; they’re part of a growing legacy. Thank you to Stephanie and Scott (and now Baby Sophia!) for trusting me with theirs.
