Engagement Session in Downtown Philadelphia

Is there anything sweeter than a couple in love in a gorgeous city? Gracie and Mitch knew that they wanted to take their engagement portraits in Philadelphia and I was so excited as we began talking about where to go during their session. They wanted to find a spot their handsome Great Dane could go - and places that felt like quintessential Philly. We finally settled on some of the most iconic spots in downtown Philadelphia, including the Merchant Exchange Building and City Hall.

We started Gracie and Mitch’s engagement session at the Merchant Exchange Building. Once a commercial business center and later a post office, the Merchant Exchange is one of the most well-known Philly landmarks. I absolutely loved it! It’s made of the most beautiful white stone, so it’s a perfect backdrop for portraits.

Gracie and Mitch’s pup, Vinny, was able to join us here, which also made it a great starting spot. He is such a big dog, but truly a gentle giant. Gracie and Mitch got him the sweetest bow tie and he was a great sport for his parents (and me). I absolutely LOVE including my couples’ dogs during their engagement photos and on wedding days, whenever possible, because they’re definitely a part of your family. Before leaving the area, we checked out one of the beautiful parks, and lucky for us, it was in bloom. I loved finding pops of color to include in Gracie and Mitch’s photos.

We ended their Philly engagement session downtown near City Hall as the lights were beginning to come on in the city. From billboards to streetlights, we were getting the most romantic glow as the city came to life for the night. It felt like such a classic view of the city - I’m glad we were able to capture it for Gracie and Mitch!

Congratulations again on your engagement, Gracie and Mitch! I can’t wait for your wedding day!! Give Vinny a treat for me!
