Engagement Session at the Met Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park
Ella and Charles wanted their engagement session to feel grounded in their day-to-day life, so we chose to visit the Met Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park. These are spaces where they often spend time together walking through the beautiful grounds. I love that we were able to include such gorgeous locations in their portraits - and that they are so meaningful to Ella and Charles.
With its lush greenery, winding trails, and stunning Hudson River views, Fort Tryon feels like a hidden pocket of old-world romance in the city. Ella and Charles looked amazing in all of the beautiful gardens. She chose a colorful floral dress and he chose a navy suit. The result was an elevated look for their portraits.
One of the highlights of the session with Ella and Charles was photographing under the Billings Arcade in Fort Tryon—an impressive 50-foot arched brick structure that once served as the grand driveway to C.K.G. Billings’ estate. Though the mansion itself was lost to fire in the 1920s, Rockefeller salvaged and preserved this feature as part of the park’s design.
Ella and Charles’ engagement portraits are a perfect example of how meaningful locations impact the experience—and the final photos we capture. Thank you for bringing me into the spaces you enjoy together, Ella and Charles! It was so special to document your love for these incredible spots!
