Maternity Session in New York City Studio and Binney Park

There is nothing that I love more than capturing milestones for my couples as they become parents and grow their families. When Katerina and Mike reached out about planning a maternity session in New York City, I couldn't wait to get started! I adore the fact that they’ve asked me to be a part of more milestones for them. We planned a two-part maternity session, with photos at my NYC studio and Binney Park.

For Katerina and Mike’s studio maternity portraits, we went with a stylish and fashion inspired look. Katerina showed off her baby bump in jeans and a white top, with Mike matching in similar attire. It was fun to watch them snuggle up and hold her bump - a snapshot of what life is like for them right now. Before we left the studio, Katerina changed into a beautiful fall dress to wear to Binney Park and I couldn’t help but snap a few portraits of her in it before we left!

Fall in NYC is always gorgeous - so I’m happy that Katerina and Mike wanted to include some outdoor maternity portraits in their session. We went to Binney Park, and captured portraits by the beautiful historic stone bridge. It was the perfect backdrop for their last portraits together before becoming parents!

Katerina and Mike, thank you for trusting me to capture yet another beautiful milestone for you two! I can’t wait to see you as parents and watch your journey unfold. Congratulations!

Start With the Parts of the Day That Can’t Move

Before filling in getting ready photos, portraits, or detail photos, start with the times that are already set. Your ceremony time is usually the biggest one. From there, add in anything else with a firm start time, like transportation, cocktail hour, dinner, sunset, or the end of your venue rental. Once those pieces are in place, it becomes much easier to build the rest of the photography timeline around them.

This is also why I recommend talking with your photographer before completely finalizing your schedule. We can help you work backward from your ceremony and make sure there’s enough time for the photos that are most important to you.
